In "Early Illustrations of Clock Escapements", the author describes pages from "Technica Curiosa", by P. Gasparis Schotti, published in 1644, (corrected in pencil by Ilbert to 1664?). Author relates how he acquired his copy of the book from a tip off from Commander Gould. 8 types of early escapement with pendulums are illustrated and described, all of them before the invention of the recoil (anchor) escapement was invented.. 2 combine verge escapements with pendulums and 2 are Gallileo types. In the article, "Half Quarter Repeating Calendar and Alarm Verge Watch", the author describes this "sedan-chair" watch by Le Roy of Paris from the collection of A.C.Jackson. The movement is described in detail with three photographs, 1. Watch, dial side; 2. Back plate of movement; 3. Under dial showing repeating work Also in this magazine is a photograph showing some of the clocks (in storage) belonging to the former Sultans of the Ottoman Empire.
