From the "Furniture" section of the magazine. Among descriptions of different items of furniture are 4 marquetry cased longcase clocks. Two of the clocks, photographed side by side, are identical in every respect except that the light and dark veneers on each are counterchanged giving a curious positive/negative effect. Unsigned and described as early 18th century, the perfection of these two clocks suggests modern manufacture. The other two marquetry longcase clocks are by Henry Harper, c. 1690 and Wm. Martin, c.1710. Also included is an advertisement for the sale of the contents of Colworth, Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, which includes a photograph of an unusual longcase clock with teardrop trunk. Probably 20th century. Another advert for Edwards, Wigmore Street, London, illustrates "An important old William and Mary Walnut and Marquetry Long-case Clock, by Richard Colston.
