Notes:
There are two copies of this letter, a handwritten one in pencil, headed Corn U Copea, and a typewritten copy of c. 1950. In the letter, Mr Forster of 4, Lower James Street, Golden Square, describes his own purchase of the Mudge Chronometer and its subsequent sale to the Duke of Sussex. Forster purchased it again at the sale of the Duke's effects at Christies and, at the time of the letter, the chronometer was still at Christies and Forster was offering it to the Rev. Walter Mallock for 21 guineas
