Relating to, "Certain Improvements on Chronomters". The patent describes Ulrich's chronometer escapement, an example of which is in the BHI Museum Collection Reprint of 1857 R.T.Gould is critical of Ulrich's work, as follows; "His personal skill, perseverance and ingenuity, were of a high order, but he suffered from a persistent tendency to prefer a complicated mechanism to a simple one, and from an entire lack of business adroitness and prudence".
