A description, with pull out engraving, of a large sundial of great complexity, "...one of the most august Things of its Kind that ever was attempted, and contains no less than 73 different Sorts of Dials, ...".

This sundial had long been taken down by the time this was written and the account of it was taken from a book by a Jesuit, Fr. Hall.

Illustrated in a fold-out engraving (290mm x 200mm), "The Grand Pyramidical & Multiform Dial; Set up in the Privy Garden at White Hall. July 24, 1669."

Pages extracted from the November, 1758 issue of The Gentleman's Magazine and bound between marbled paper covers.

The article describes in detail an unusual sandglass, made of iron and wood,incorporating dials and gearing. Illustrated on a fold-out page (250mm x 210mm) with 8 engravings showing the mechanism.

Described as a chronometer and "...every way moveable to conform to the agitations of a ship", suggesting that this was one of the eccentric inventions intended to solve the longitude puzzle.

Le Centenaire d'Abram-Louis Breguet is a brief biography (pp.95-135) of Breguet and includes a portrait of him and photographs of "Le Chf-D'Oeuvre de Breguet, La montre perpetuelle dite de Marie-Antoinette."

Le Moine Dormeur de la Part-Dieu is a slightly whimsical paper on the horological work of the monk, Don Joseph Herman.  Portrait of Herman included plus two illustrations of his clocks, one with automatum, the other with astronomical dials.
