Dated January 31st, 1925, this is a brief article on the 1797 tax on clocks and watches together with further details of the Hearth and Window Tax. Includes portrait of William Pitt. 2. "A Pre-Copernican Clock". A short letter with photograph, from Geoffrey R. Williams, concerning the astronomical clock at Wimborne Minster 3. "The Watch and the Hymn. A Norfolk Church Coincidence". A brief humorous story

Cuttings from Newspapers and other publications which C. Ilbert foud of horological interest. Details as follows; 1. "What is Time", from T.P.'s Weekly, 24/2/1911, by H. Ottewill Bruce. Rambling thoughts on this subject following the the adoption of Greenwich Mean Time by the French Senate. 2. "An Historic Mudge Chronometer", from The Bazaar, Exchange and Mart, 2/6/1922, at least partially written by R.T.Gould. Written following the discovery of Mudge's "Blue" chronometer by Messrs. Hurcomb & Co. Includes two photos and a diagram.

These are a selection of pages torn from editions of the Gentleman's Magazine covering various horological topics as follows; 1. Gent. Mag. for 1758, p. 254. An unsigned letter dated June 22nd refers back to a letter in Dec. 1757 edition, mentioning Mr Harrison's sea-clock and Mr Mayer's scheme for finding the longitude by observation of the moon were both taken into consideration by the commissioners for the longitude. Some details given of Mayer's method and comments on the French observations of Abbe de la Caille.
