Pages extracted from an unknown journal (possibly the Edinburgh Review), and bound separately between marbled paper covers.  Translated and abridged from Shumacher's Astronomische Nachrichten, March 1822.

Urbain (sic) Jurgensen described as "Chronometer-maker to the Danish Navy and Member of the Royal Society of Sciences at Copenhagen."

The author gives a brief precis of the developments in escapements for chronometers before describing his own, a variation of Earnshaw's spring detent escapement but one which utilises two very light escape wheels.
